Xiang Zairong’s research, teaching, and curatorial practices engage with cosmology and cosmopolitanism across culturally diverse and historically situated contexts in English, Spanish, French, Chinese, and Nahuatl. He teaches literature and art at Duke Kunshan University and has co-curated major international exhibitions, including the 2021 Guangzhou Image Triennial, Ceremony (Burial of an Undead World) at Berlin’s Haus der Kulturen der Welt, and the 14th Shanghai Biennial Cosmos Cinema (2023–24). Recent projects include How to Be Happy Together? at Para Site Hong Kong (2024–25) and the forthcoming ICA Philadelphia exhibition The Condition of Being Near (2026), co-curated with Denise Ryner, examining Afro-Asian histories and south-south solidarities. He is the author of Queer Ancient Way: A Decolonial Exploration and editor of multiple catalogues and special issues. Currently completing a book on “transdualism,” he also researches Global South artistic exchanges, especially between Latin America and China
