Tavia Nyong’o (he/they) is a New York–based scholar, curator, and critic whose work traces the intersections of race, sexuality, and performance. He is William Lampson Professor of American Studies at Yale University and Curator of Public Programs at the Park Avenue Armory. He recently published Black Apocalypse: Afrofuturism at the End of the World (UC Press) and curated Yoko Ono Wish Tree, the largest-scale free public art project in the Armory’s history. His prior books include The Amalgamation Waltz and Afrofabulations. Drawing from queer theory, Black studies, and minoritarian aesthetics, Nyong’o foregrounds how bodies and spaces become sites of resistance, imagination, and transformation. He aligns his practice with movements for a free Palestine and against rising global fascism, affirming the role of art and architecture in cultivating solidarities and futures beyond racial capitalism, settler colonialism, and authoritarian power.
