Sylvia Victor Linsteadt is an author, a scholar of ancient history and myth, and a certified wildlife tracker. She studied Literary Arts at Brown University. Her books include the Carnegie-nominated The Wild Folk and The Wild Folk Rising, the folkloric novel Tatterdemalion, and Lost Worlds of the San Francisco Bay Area, winner of the 2018 Northern California Book Award For Best General Nonfiction. Sylvia has also published two collections that explore the pre-patriarchal mythscapes of Old Europe—Our Lady of the Dark Country and The Venus Year. She is an associate of the Institute of Archaeomythology, and lives on the Point Reyes Peninsula, unceded Coast Miwok land, in Northern California where she was born.
