Soren Gauger is a Canadian translator, writer, and essayist residing in Kraków since 20 years. He has translated classics of Polish literature of early XX century into English, including works by Witkacy, Bruno Jasieński, and Jerzy Ficowski. He studied at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, and at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. His writing has appeared in numerous periodicals across the United States, Canada, and Europe. He is the author of two collections of short fiction in English—Hymns to Millionaires (2004) and Quatre Regards sur l’Enfant-Jésus (2004)—both of which received critical acclaim internationally. In 2014, the Ha!art Corporation Foundation published his novel Not This / Not That (Nie to / nie tamto), marking Gauger’s debut in Polish, followed by his novella Unspeakable Things (Rzeczy niewysłowione) in 2020. He is the recipient of three translation grants from the Book Institute and one from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland
