Simone Niquille
Simone C Niquille is a designer and researcher, and founder of the Amsterdam-based studio technoflesh. Her work focuses on vision technologies, the images they produce, and the worlds they create — from computer vision, 3D animation, and computational photography to synthetic datasets for training. In 2023, Niquille launched the parametric truth Lab within the Master in Information Design at Design Academy Eindhoven, a space for annotating, documenting, and analysing software beyond its immediate functionality and productivity. Since the same year, she also coordinates a course on technology and architecture at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture. Her work has been exhibited and published internationally. In 2016, she was a research fellow at the Nieuwe Instituut in Rotterdam and received the Talent Development Grant from Creative Industries NL. In 2018, she was awarded the Housing The Human grant and was a commissioned exhibitor for the Dutch Pavilion at the 16th Venice Architecture Biennale with the project Safety Measures, exploring the intertwined history of computer-generated imagery, ergonomic software, and standardised human measurements. In 2020, she received the Pax Media Art Award and was an artist-in-residence at La Becque, while also contributing as a guest lecturer in ECAL’s Master of Photography for the research project Automated Photography.
