Rana X. Adhikari is a professor of physics at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena, California, and an associate faculty member of the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences in Bengaluru, India. He is among the scientists responsible for the Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory that discovered gravitational waves in 2015. At Caltech, he oversees the Adhikari Research Group, which investigates experimental gravitational physics related to gravitational wave astronomy and tests fundamental physics on the tabletop to understand the nature of spacetime.
