Atelier nom commun

Atelier nom commun is a multidisciplinary design studio founded by Maya Cunat and Quentin Gaudry. Since 2021, the collective cultivates a contextual, attentive and reflective approach to graphic design. Working with individuals, artists, writers, cultural organizations, and publishing houses, the studio design books and printed matter, graphic systems, hybrid editorial formats, as well as spatial projects and websites.

In parallel of their commissioned work, Atelier nom commun develops self-initiated projects, deployed within research, residencies, exhibitions, and workshops. Nourished by anthropology, contemporary social and political issues, the collective attempts to question the contemporary conditions of (re)production and representations of knowledge and images, using design as a relational tool.

Since 2025, the collective has been developing ./ ( ) — root, a nomadic editorial station conceived as a mobile device that travels through successive iterations in rural areas. The project investigates relationships with the local, land, and those who inhabit them through on-site gatherings, surveys, meal and graphic production practices.
