Paloma Checa-Gismero is a historian of global contemporary art. She is an associate professor of art history at Swarthmore College and author of Biennial Boom: Making Contemporary Art Global (Duke University Press, 2024). An experienced educator, curriculum developer, and curator of public programs, she has written extensively about art biennials, craft, and socially engaged art.
