Niels Schrader is Head of the Master Non Linear Narrative (NLN) department at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) and also teaches the Information Design course, which is part of the NLN curriculum. The NLN master’s program at KABK integrates journalistic and forensic investigation with computer science and visual arts to develop a contemporary progressive design approach: non-linear storytelling. Niels studied Communication Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf and at the Sandberg Institute in Amsterdam. In his practice, Schrader manifests himself as a conceptual new media designer and typographer. By referring to the inherent duality of communication and by exploring generic translation processes, Schrader’s work focuses on the contemporary conflict of the media that constantly emits higher loads of data output while becoming more and more irrelevant for the recipient.
