Lily Kelting is a writer, scholar, and educator interested in coffee, milk, trash, soil, the future, and how we live in the world. Her first book, Against Heritage: The AReinvention of Traditional Foods (UNC Press 2026), examines how heritage foods are reinvented across India, the American South, and the Nordic countries. Her writing (Emergence Magazine, Vittles Magazine, Off Assignment, elsewhere) often explores the stories we tell about food, tradition, and place—and who gets included in or left out of those stories. With a background in theatre and performance studies, Lily has also worked in Berlin as a theatre and dance critic, radio journalist, and dramaturg. She lives in Pune, India, where she is an Assistant Professor of Literary and Cultural Studies at FLAME University.
