Jean-Pierre Greff

Jean-Pierre Greff is an art historian specializing in French art from the 1940s to the 1960s and in 20th-century monumental art, including stained glass and mosaics. In 2006–2007, he established HEAD – Genève (HES-SO), which was formed through the merger of the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts and the Haute École d’Arts Appliqués. He served as the director of the institution until 2022. His publication Genèse de la HEAD : le pari du rapprochement de l’art et du design (2024) tells the story of this endeavor. Greff is the author and editor of numerous books, including L’eau: Jean Bazaine (co-author, 2006) and Wouldn’t it be Nice…: Wishful Thinking in Art and Design (co-author, 2008). Since 2020, Jean-Pierre Greff has chaired the Plaza Foundation, where he is working on the redesign and redevelopment of the Plaza Centre Cinema, set to open in Geneva in late 2026.
