Irena Chawrilska is an Assistant Professor at the University of Gdańsk. She has published on environmental humanities, the philosophy of wetlands and swamplife, Polish culture. She is serving as the Director of the Academic Centre for Polish Language and Culture at the University of Gdańsk and as the Coordinator of the More-than-Human Studies Lab at the UG Centre for Sustainable Development. She has been visiting scholar at Utrecht University and the University of Toronto, she is Principial Investigator in the international research project „CONVIVIUM: New European Bauhaus Solutions In Food, Living Heritage, And Convivality” (Horizon Europe 2024–2027), and authored Hybrids and hybridity: from the borderland of literature and visual arts (2020), Polish for sustainability? Polish culture and global challenges (2022), LOST in Gdansk! Polish culture in the age of uncertainty (2023).
