Fiona Shen is the Escalette Collection Director at Chapman University in Orange, California. Prior to this, Shen was associate professor and director of research at Sino-British College in Shanghai. She is the author of Pearl: Nature’s Perfect Gem (Reaktion Books, 2022), Silver (Reaktion Books, 2017), and Knowledge is Pleasure: Florence Ayscough in Shanghai (Hong Kong University Press, 2012), and her writing has appeared in Orion, The Washington Post, China Today, and The Cimarron Review. Shen received a PhD in art history from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland.
