Having studied graphic design at the Gerrit Rietveld academy in Amsterdam Doris Boerman developed an interest in design principles and how these are applied to the complex construction of public identities. Approaching the body as a presentation model for the self and the exhibition space as a presentation model for art, she started working around the overlapping notions between the dressing of the body and the dressing of the exhibition space. Whilst maintaining a practice in sculpture and installation, she obtained a master degree in choreography and art from ISAC, Académie royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
