The Department of Ultimology was established by Fiona Hallinan and Kate Strain in January 2016 in Trinity College Dublin. Ultimology is the practice of paying attention to endings. As death can be considered at least as a type of ending, the practice draws on traditions of mourning and attending to the dead.
