DEMOCRACIA is an artistic collective based in Madrid, Spain. Formed in 2006, the group focuses its artistic production on collectivity, dissent, and conflict. DEMOCRACIA’s work is characterized by social interventions that politicize spaces and situations through the apparatus of propaganda. Their concerns are expressed through forms that subvert and reposition the aesthetic materials and textual rhetoric of Western political cultures. In doing so, their practice offers a critique of social, political, and economic institutions, systems, and conventions.
