Bureau of Melodramatic Research (BMR) was founded by Irina Gheorghe and Alina Popa (1982-2019) in 2009 in Bucharest. The Bureau uses techniques of melo- critique to investigate how passions shape contemporary society, as well as our affective relationship to an unhuman universe. BMR’s work includes self-help guides for crying in public, safety trainings for the post-Fordist emotional workplace and cooking shows for an expanded economy.
