‘๐๐ก๐๐ญ ๐๐ ๐๐ฐ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐๐๐’ (SetMargins’ Press, 2025) is a gripping detective novel set in a dystopian surveillance society.
Blending philosophy and fiction, it examines concepts like personhood and our duties to the dead.
On May the 27th, the author (๐๐ญ๐๐๐๐ง๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ข) will engage in a dialogue with ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ (University of Ghent, Belgium) in an event where science fiction narrative intertwines with the crises and questions of our time.
Drawing on the book’s themes, the ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง will explore topics such as climate imagination and the utopian potential of (fictional) games.
๐๐ญ๐๐๐๐ง๐จ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฅ๐๐ง๐ข is a philosopher who designs digital games and a game designer who is passionate about philosophy. He is a Professor at the Institute of Digital Games (University of Malta). Among his monographic books are ‘Virtual Worlds as Philosophical Tools’ (Palgrave, 2015), Virtual Existentialism (Palgrave Pivot, 2020 โ with Daniel Vella), ‘Fictional Games: A Philosophy of Worldbuilding and Imaginary Play’ (Bloomsbury, 2023 โ with Riccardo Fassone), and ‘The Clouds’ (Routledge, 2024).
